Our Story

"Everyone Can Eat Empurau"

Welcome to our little slice of paradise, where the fields meet the sky and relaxation is just a breath away.

Borneo Empurau Farm & Resort (BEFR) is dedicated to promoting responsible tourism through a range of impactful initiatives. Our commitment to community engagement involves actively involving local communities in our eco-tourism activities, providing economic opportunities, and preserving cultural heritage.

Starting in 2017, combining novel breeding techniques and years of Empurau breeding R&D, BEFR has successfully built a scalable Empurau breeding operation with over 50,000 grown adult fish. To date, the centre has developed a hatchery capable in producing about 120,000 Empurau fries that were sent over to Batang Ai, Sarawak for contract farming. There are also Broodstock breeding pond for 1,600 adult Empurau, a R&D laboratory and a training facility for perspective Empurau farmers. We will soon be initiating our Empurau rehabilitation programmes.
